Clifton Press is delighted to announce the publication of Pat Wellington's memoirs.
Pat reflects on the first 40 years of her life. It was a time of great upheaval and uncertainty, spanning two world wars and the Depression. Pat describes the hardships of life on a soldier settlement block at Merbein, her school days at Mildura High and Korowa Girls' School, and life as a medical student at Melbourne University. Her romance with Medwyn Hutson was followed by the triumph of her graduation and wedding on the same day in December 1937.
Pat recaptures the isolation, loneliness and difficulties of a female doctor during World War II, with Medwyn overseas in the Middle East, New Guinea and Borneo. Finally, Pat recalls the decision to move to Dandenong and join the Murray House general practice and their shared joy in eastablishing a family of three young boys. |
